Bidisha is a writer, critic and broadcaster specialising in human rights, international affairs and arts and culture. She also does outreach work in UK detention centres and prisons.

Bidisha will talk about her experience working at two centres providing support to asylum seekers, refugees and displaced people in London. She tells us: “I encountered a variety of different types of migration story: from some knowledge workers, highly educated and privileged, who were simply finding their feet in a new culture, to refugees and asylum seekers from the Congo, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Iran, Cameroon, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Uganda and Liberia who were fleeing fragile states, extreme poverty, war zones or societies which had become radically destabilised following historic hostilities or the exploits and corruptions of dictatorial government.”

Please join us to find out more about Bidisha’s findings while working closely with asylum seekers, refugees and displaced people.

Admission free. All welcome.
