As part of the Tilbury Carnival, artist Maria Anastassiou presents rushes from her yearlong filmmaking process with refugee and migrant communities in Tilbury, reflecting on shared experiences of migration and citizenship.

To accompany the screening, Maria will lead a workshop in filmmaking techniques, using 16mm film. Come along and have a go! At the end of the day, the outcome of your film will get a screening too.

Maria Anastassiou is part of New Geographies, a project which highlights overlooked or unexpected places across East Anglia, redrawing the map of the region with places important to those living here. This project has been made possible with the support of Arts Council of England, Big Lottery and ECVAN, a contemporary visual arts network based in the East of England.
