Iris Gunnarsdottir offers an exploration of gender identity and the making and breaking of gender roles imposed by society in her film ‘The Interviews’.

Wearing an anonymising grey suit, Gunnarsdottir disrupts notions of a single self as she takes on the role of both interviewer and interviewee, deliberately moving the focus away from the individual and towards a more collective or universal understanding of how people comprehend their own identity.

‘The Interviews’ insightfully reveals the complexities of gender identity through these open and honest conversations. Our exhibition also includes the work of  Claude Cahun, with both artists extending the ideas of each other.

Born in Maniitsoq in Greenland, Iris Gunnarsdottir now lives in the UK and works internationally.
