Foraging in Wivenhoe Park

10.08.2024

2:00 - 4:30 pm

Art Exchange

admission free

Join Lora Aziz – wildcrafter, artist and author – for a foraging walk around Wivenhoe Park, followed by tea back at Art Exchange.

Lora will lead us on a foraging expedition around Wivenhoe Park. We will identify local plants including which ones are edible, medicinal and used in a variety of traditional ways. Together we will explore the natural wonders of Wivenhoe Park.

So we can forage responsibly, we’ll be collectively picking only a small amount, and we’ll be providing materials for you to create leaf rubbings or anything else you’d like to observe!

We will then head back to Art Exchange for a cuppa with some mint we’ve recently foraged And for those who feel inspired, there will be arts activities available.

Admission free – suitable for all ages, though the terrain will be a bit bumpy for baby/toddler buggies. Do consider wearing sensible shoes as the parkland can be muddy in places if its been raining.

We will start at Art Exchange, and head off by 2.10 pm.

Here’s a map so you can find us at Art Exchange! Art in the Park Map

There are cafes, toilets and baby changing facilities are nearby – and parking is free on Saturdays.

This event has been made possible through the Essex County Council Arts and Cultural Fund, which supports organisations and creative practitioners to deliver an exciting range of activities to engage with and bring communities in Essex together.
