Art Exchange

admission free

6.00 – 7.00pm, in Art Exchange

Artist Ori Gersht will join us for an evening of debate and conversation about the ideas behind his fascinating exhibition ‘Evaders’, on show at Art Exchange.

Using the striking artworks that surround us in the gallery as a starting point, Ori will talk about the themes and motivations behind his extraordinarily beautiful photographs and film.

‘Evaders’ features film and photographs which trace the journey across the Pyrenees used by many escaping Nazi occupied France in WWII, including the German-Jewish writer and philosopher Walter Benjamin on his ill-fated journey in 1940.

Ori will also screen his short film ‘Will You Dance For Me’, which focuses on Holocaust survivor Yehudit Arnon, who when ordered to dance for Auschwitz guards at their Christmas party, refused. Her punishment was to stand in the snow and at that moment, she pledged to dance every day if she survived Auschwitz.

Ori Gersht was born in Tel-Aviv, Israel and now lives and works in London.

Admission free, all welcome.

Refreshments will be served.
