Come along to Art Exchange and meet artists Daniel & Clara as they give a talk about ‘On the Island’, their work currently on show in Breathing the Light exhibition.
Daniel & Clara will expand on the ideas and inspiration behind their work – including how they suddenly found themselves spending lockdown in Mersea Island, Essex. This lead to the making of a series of 1 minute films that they shared on Instagram each day, allowing us to watch the seasons pass and weather change with them. Responding to the psychological impact of the pandemic and physical restrictions of lockdown, ‘On the Island’ captures a moment in time, while allowing us the space to pause beside them as they look and listen.
As landscape is central to Daniel & Clara’s work, we’re also heading out for a walk with the artists around Wivenhoe Park where Art Exchange resides. It’s our chance to participate in Daniel & Clara’s way of tuning into the environment through slowing down and absorbing their surroundings.
We’ll then warm up back in the gallery – with the help of tea, coffee and cake!
