CELEBRATING IDENTITY, CHALLENGING TABOO

25.11.2015

admission free

Muscled men locked in intimate embrace; turbaned warriors glorified in a beautiful cloud of material wealth; mug-shots of male terrorists; children wielding weapons. These are just some of the images in Faiza Butt’s new exhibition at Art Exchange, exploring the complexities of 21st Century living.

You are invited to come and join the artist on a personal tour, when she will share insights into her work, with a focus on identity and taboo in today’s post-9/11 globalised world.

Born in Lahore, Pakistan, Faiza’s obsessively crafted paintings and drawings hover between photography and embroidery, uniting traditions and cultures from East and West.

All are welcome to this special event, hosted in partnership with Equality and Diversity at Essex. Come and join us for a drink and an opportunity to meet the artist.

Paracosm by Faiza Butt is a touring exhibition produced by New Art Exchange, Nottingham. This exhibition has been made possible through financial support from Arts Council England.
