Join Lora Aziz – wildcrafter, artist and author – for a foraging walk around Wivenhoe Park, followed by arts activities back at Art Exchange.
Lora will lead us on a foraging expedition around Wivenhoe Park. We will identify local plants including which ones are edible, medicinal and used in a variety of traditional ways. Together we will gather plants as we explore the natural world on our doorstep.
We will then head back to Art Exchange for hot drinks – hopefully making a foraged tea blend of our own! We will then move on to creative activities which include utilising the plants we have foraged alongside photography, print and plant based inks and paper as the basis of collecting your memories, thoughts and recollections about the planet we live in.
2.00 pm – Meet up at Art Exchange
2.10 – 3 pm – Foraging in Wivenhoe Park
3.00 – 3.30 pm – Hot drinks and biscuits
3.30 – 5.00 pm – creative making with Lora, using foraged materials
A warm coat and reasonably good shoes are recommended.
Free, all welcome.

Lora Aziz has recently been commissioned by the British Council COP 27 to work on ‘Motanafas’, her project that brings together art, science and digital technology to find innovative and inclusive responses to climate change. It builds ways of connecting, thinking and learning that promote, develop and protect traditional plant knowledge and environmental equality in creative ways. Herbal art, explorative foraging, food sovereignty and plant medicine are ways in which Wyrd Flora works to re-kindle a sense of wonder for this beautiful planet we call home.
