A chance to hear more about the work of Britain’s first prominent female tattoo artist, Jessie Knight and the extraordinarily talented contemporary tattooist Claudia de Sabe. A timely reminder of how much the role of women tattooists have moved from the margins, to being firmly established at the centre of popular culture in Britain today.
PIEL (‘skin’ in Spanish) is an opportunity to expand on issues raised in Skin Digging, with contemporary artists critically engaging with our skin as a site for conceptual thought.
