The Hexagon, 5.00 – 5.45pm
Internationally renowned artist Mikhail Karikis will give a performance to accompany Listening exhibition, which showcases his thought-provoking film SeaWomen.
Mikhail Karikis is a Greek/British artist based in London. His work embraces moving image, sound and other media to create immersive audio-visual installations and performances which emerge from his long standing investigation of the voice as a sculptural material and a socio-political agent. Karikis’s performance will culminate in a screening of ‘Sounds from Beneath’, his film made with ex-miners from Wales.
Karikis’ works are exhibited internationally including the 5th Thessaloniki Biennale, Manifesta 9, the Danish Pavilion 54th Venice Biennale, Tate Britain and the British Art Show 8.
Mikhail Karikis’s performance contributes to Listening Symposium as our finale event.
The Listening exhibition is brought to Colchester in collaboration with Firstsite. Find out more at their website.
