As part of the Dislocated Jouneys exhibition, internationally renowned artists Zineb Sedira and Ursula Biemann talk about the role that mobility and migration plays in their work, reflecting on personal histories and the politics of movement in a global age.
Zineb Sedira will explore her interest in Mauritania’s coast, with its cemeteries of discarded boats and cars, drawing to our attention the journeys people make around the world which are propelled by dreams of a better life. Ursula Biemann focuses on the underlying power structures that produce the current conditions of mobility, visibility and containment that lie at the heart of contemporary global geopolitics.
