6.00 – 7.00pm
The Pixelated Revolution exhibition acts as a catalyst for further debate and conversation. We bring together two expert speakers to discuss the Arab Spring and its impact in the Middle East.
Gilbert Achcar, Professor of Development Studies and International Relations at SOAS University, will talk about the Arab Spring and its continuing impact across the Middle East, including Palestine. Professor Achcar will be joined by Shimaa Hatab, a doctoral candidate in the Government Department at the University of Essex, who will talk on the Arab Spring with specific reference to Syria.
This event has been organised in collaboration with the University of Essex Students’ Union Palestinian Solidarity Society.

To mark the second anniversary of the uprising in Syria, students from around the region will gather at Art Exchange to raise awareness of the conflict and the issues faced by Syrian students. As well as speakers from campus, we will hear live from Aleppo with a report of the current situation faced by Syrians as the conflict enters its third year.
