Art Exchange, 6 – 7pm

As part of Movement of the People exhibition, writer Malu Halasa, filmmaker Zaher Omareen and artist Ibrahim Fakhri join us to talk about the powerful role of protest art in Syria today.

Co-editors of the seminal book  Syria Speaks: Art and Culture from the Frontline, Malu Halasa and Zaher Omareen will be joined by graffiti artist Ibrahim Fakhri, who has made an extraordinarily moving new graffiti for Part 2 of Movement of the People.

Graffiti, posters, film, animation and cartoons strengthen civilian’s solidarity, break the barrier of fear and document life under siege in Syria. Please join us in celebrating the extraordinary creativity coming up from the streets of Syria.

Our discussion with Malu, Zaher and Ibrahim will be followed by Q&A.

Refreshments served.
