Curator Jess Twyman will take you on a tour of Art Exchange’s latest exhibition A Lament for Power, by artists Larry Achiampong and David Blandy. This new artwork has been made in collaboration with academics from the University of Essex, as together they explore the ethics of scientific discovery and the complex relationship between science, politics and race in our age of avatars, video gaming and DNA Ancestry testing.
Jess will expand on the ideas behind A Lament for Power, including its focus on the rarely told story of black American Henrietta Lack’s contribution to science, while also exploring the film’s use of popular culture such as the gaming world’s Resident Evil 5 as a vehicle to speak about the world around us.
