admission free

Tuesday 5 June (6-8pm) at Cine 10.

Join us for a free film screening  of ‘Umbrellas Move’ a documentary that will transport you into Hong Kong’s city-wide protest.

Captured by Hong Kong-based photojournalist and cinematographer Birdy Chu, the film focuses on the imbalanced political power and conflict resulting from the handover of Hong Kong’s administration from Britain to China.

Please join us to watch this fascinating film where you will see first-hand the impact of the longest civil occupation in the contemporary history of Hong Kong.

After the film, we’ll hold a q&a which will be moderated by ‘Essex Transform’, a project group from the University of Essex’s Department of Government, and Eric Yan Ho Lai, a former leader of The Student Union of Chinese University of Hong Kong and Civil Human Rights Front, and current member of D4HK.

Admission is free and complimentary refreshments will be served.
