Wed 27 Nov, 6pm – 7pm in Art Exchange
Anton Greenaway takes over Art Exchange and finds new ways to respond to the art on display in Open Your Eyes.
The art of the African diaspora and post-colonial nations often offer up challenges to the received wisdom and rationale of the west. As original as the artworks in the Open Your Eyes exhibition may appear, they can surprise us by expressing sentiments familiar to rap music’s initial audience. By treating the work of artists such as Wu-Tang Clan and Stormzy among others as texts, Anton Greenaway will explore the different ways that we can respond to the world around us.
Followed by Q&A and a drinks reception.
Admission free.
Anton Greenaway is a post-graduate student from the School of Philosophy and Art History and will be leading this evening’s event.
