Emma Hart: M20 Death Drives

Through unexpected assembling of video, photography and sculpture, Emma Hart makes visceral audio-visual work. In an innovative staging, Monument to the Unsaved, (M20 Death Drives with Imagination Products) evokes an 80 mph car crash on the M20 motorway. Wing mirrors reflect a concealed TV, relaying a fragmented fast moving video that describes a near fatal motorway crash, while below them cocktails are served out in wooden glasses filled with dice and catering trays become service stations – all offering up products from Hart’s traumatised imagination.

Emma Hart’s recent solo exhibitions and performances include Word Processor at Stanley Picker Gallery, Jam at Cell Project Space and For Arrows at Modern Art Oxford. In 2010 Hart exhibited TO DO, a critically acclaimed solo show at Matt’s Gallery, where she is represented. In 2012 her first in the series of Monuments to the Unsaved was exhibited as part of the Jerwood Film/Film and Video Umbrella Awards. Hart’s forthcoming projects include a solo exhibition at Camden Arts Centre, London, in 2013.
