MA students from the Centre for Curatorial Studies at the University of Essex present My Fiction is Real, an exhibition that brings together artists from around the world who investigate the process of constructing identity through performance. My Fiction is Real considers identity not as a fixed point, but rather, as a process of continual flux and re-invention. The artists on show playfully present fictions that they have created of themselves as they use performance to both question and reveal their own identity. Coming from distinct artistic practices and backgrounds, the selected artists include emerging creators and well-established figures of the contemporary art scene: Adriana Varejão, Janez Janša, Margaret Harrison, Mounira Al Solh, Rachel Maclean and Shana Moulton. An MA Curatorial Studies exhibition.
