In collaboration with Focal Point Gallery, we are delighted to have received funding from the Arts Council of England for an artist-in-residence to work closely with the Faculty of Social Sciences here at the University of Essex.
The University of Essex has over 50 years of history as a radical, ground-breaking, international centre for social scientific research, and is known as a university where students are encouraged to think for themselves. The selected artist will explore Essex’s unique role in developing challenging, new ways of thinking about a wide range of social issues.
The artist will work with academic staff and archival materials to produce a new moving imagework, installed as an exhibition at Art Exchange with an associated public programme, then in public screenings across the county, including Big Screen Southend, which adjoins Focal Point Gallery.
We anticipate announcing our artist in residence on 19 March 2019 – watch this space!
