Adama Dercilia Bari explores Black geographies by focusing on her lived experience and that of those close to her. She finds glimmers close to home, opening up gateways into places where she feels she can be herself.
We see the artist interviewing Mariam while she photographs her bedroom, asking her about her what home means to her? With easy familiarity they talk together, discussing the politics of visibility and invisibility, and occupying space as Black women in the United Kingdom.
Recent exhibitions include Blomberg New Contemporaries, Camden Art Centre, London (2023): See you in the Dark, Rich Mix, London (2023); Art of Joy, Koppel X Project, London (2022); Knot a Hair, Coal Drops Yard, London (2021).
